Zaplotynska O. Intellectual nonconformism in Ukraine in 1960-70s (Historical and Cultural Aspects).

The dissertation offers a complex research of intellectual nonconformism among writers and artists of the Soviet Ukraine in 1960-70s. On the basis of new archival data and published works the author has studied state policy in the field of literature and art. In addition, ideological context of the state politics is analyzed. The dissertation puts under analysis basic features and mechanisms of implementation of political decisions into cultural life of the republic. The dissertation deals with major phenomena which produced intellectual nonconformity within intelligentsia. The dissertation also offers an analysis of social and demographic profiles of nonconformist intelligentsia. Author provides a generalized picture of Ukrainian unofficial cultural milieu. Particular attention is given to official discourse of and about nonconformism, which is analyzed on the basis of official press, party documents and printed materials of artists' and writers' Unions). Same attention is paid to unofficial discourse.
