Essay

The research focuses on analyzing the intensional and specifications of representations of the universal symbol "world tree" as a component of the individual (author's) conceptual system of Boris Pasternak. The notion of isomorphic image is specified and new "man-caused" symbols are defined as mythologemae and successors to traditional mythological meanings. The analysis allows to widen the common list of images, isomorphic to the "world tree", in Pasternak's poetical system and, potentially, in the Russian ethnic mythopoetical paradigm. That proves the status of the "world tree" image as the universal symbol and the idea about the unlimited embodiment of the latter. Among the images, isomorphic to the "world tree", that are not presented as such in mythopoetical dictionaries, it is necessary to mention images of rain, night, lantern, candle and train. The results of study prove that the universal symbol "world tree" is the most important element of Pasternak's poetical system. The block of mythopoetical meanings in its intensional considerably prevails upon the normative ones.
