In the dissertation on the basis of wide circle of sources and literature, creation of one of the main elements of market infrastructure - exchanges in Ukraine is explored, that was dictated by logic of economic development and it was caused by the necessities of national economy in the NEP period. The features of origin and distribution of network of exchange organizations, basic directions of their activity and specific of exchange trade are analysed.
