Skomorovsky V. Historical ethnographic views of Ivan Franko.

The dissertation is the first complex research of historical ethnographic views of Ivan Franko within Ukrainian historiography. In the work there have analysed the condition of studying the problem, used a wide link of sources, generalized famous bad known pages of the scientist's biography and involved them in the scientific process. The author observed the process of formulating and creating Ivan Franko's historical ethnographic views in the close connection with the certain historical situation on the west-Ukrainian territory in the second part of the XIXth - beginning of the XXth centuries. The dissertation describes the place and the meaning of Ivan Franko's historical ethnographic views, his participation in the activity of national cultural associations in Halychyna in the second part of the XIXth century. Basing on the systematization of the real material there have investigated a scientific heritage of the scientist and also given the value of his input to the development of the national historiography.
