Karakoz O. The censorship in the public libraries of Ukraine the essence and the forms of display (1917-1939)

The essence and the main forms of the censorship display in the public libraries of Ukraine (1917-1939) have been researched in the dissertation. On the basement of the study of the new souwrces and literature is shown its influens upon the seeting up of the public libraries chain, meaning of the removal of the so called "theoretically doubtful" literature from the book funds. Asaresult of these actions the readers needs have not been satisfied in the full scale. Also the "cleanings" among librarians were analyzyd by the anthor. Besider there were shown the basements and given the foundations for the main periods of the censorships "activity" in the libraries of Ukraine. The forms and directions of the censorship's intrusion into the libraries work were studied by the author as well. In the dissertation the author has discussed the main porinciples of the work of the Soviet censorship establishments, which had limited the activity of the public libraries by way of transforming them into the institutesof the political education. The dissertation shows the librarian censorship as the social phenomenon, it underlines its importance in the field of limitation of the information, printed word and national thought.
