Lymar A. Matvey Terentyevich Simonov (Nomis): his life, cultural and scientific efforts, public and educational work.

Object – personality of Matvey Terentyevich Simonov, an outstanding representative of Ukrainian intellectuals in the second half of the 19th century. Purpose – reconstruction of M.T. Simonov’s life and creative development, identification of his role and place in the history of Ukraine in the 19th century. Methods – historical and genetic, historical and comparative, historical and typological, historical and chronological, historical and psychological, biographical.There has been reconstructed M Nomis’ life and activities, cleared up the process of development of his conception of the world and his becoming as a cultural and public man. There has been analyzed his masterpiece, suggested the periodization of his life, determined some previously unknown facts from his life, specified some facts of his genealogy. For the first time there has been characterized M.T. Simonov’s public activities and his work to organize education along with study of local lore in Poltavska province. There has been examinedhis private life as well as economic activities at his own estate in Zarig village.
