Derbak A. Social backgrounds of national consiousness making (social and philosophic analysis).

The thesis contains thorough analysis of fundamental problems in national consciousness making. The authr considers it as nation's comprehensive self-reflexion to its own life activities that becomes major motive forces in its historical development. The first attempt is made to understand the basic national consciousness building constituents: the whole system of nation learning, worldwide guidelines for life matters, moral values and imperatives, which both reveal the life attitude of subjects of national being and regulate their social behavior. The author examines the nature of political consciousnees as the nature of political consciousness as the transition link between social backgrounds of national consciousness making and its inner being. It is pointed out that the initial constituent issue for national consciousness building, as the integral social phenomenon, is the national idea which might develop into the national ideology. The latter plays the part of a form making core that in itself synthesizes the meaningful contents of national consciousness. The author provides some considerations as to the integral contents of the developed forms of national consiousness, its constituents and the ways and modes of their intergration. The thesis also concentrates on the basic social functions of national consciousness, its nature origins in specific subjects, its impact on social practice. Much attention is paid to highlightening the role of national elite in making and revealing national consciousnees.
