Essay

Object: genetical control over the content and fractional composition of starch in maize seed. Aim: to determine a biochemical effect of starch modifying genes of maize and the nature of inheritance in grain quality traits and producing capacity by hibrids obtained on their basis. Methods: field, genetical, biochemical, statistical. Novelty: there has been worked out the technology of creation of sources, which replace imported of amylopectin and amylose types. There has been established wx and su2 mutation expression during grain development. Results: there have been released inbred lines of special use, with aggregate of economical traits. There has been created the series of inbred lines for practical selection of wx and su2 - maize. Application stage: a new original material of maize has been passed to the NCPGRU; the lines of wx and su2 - maize are being used in the breeding programs of the Plant Production Institute and Sinelnikovskaya BEBS; amylopectin starch is used by the Kharkov National University of Nutrition. Application area: breeding institution; National Centre for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine, institutions involved into working out the technologies for application of starches with specific properties.
