Essay

In this dissertation the author described the armed forces of Austro-Hungary, conditions of their formation and organizational and legislative basis. He studied the structure of infantry, cavalery and special units. He estimated not only quantity and quality of Ukrainian participants in the army of Austro-Hungary but also conditions of formation of the first Ukrainian unit within Austro-Hungarian Army. The dissertation includes the description of army's uniforms and materiel; the author touches such problems as the development of navy and air forces, too.
