The dissertation has given comparatively full review of the activity of the higher educational institutions of the Crimea in XIX - the beginning of the XX century, from the view of the modern methodology.The historical and socio-pedagogical preconditions of the construction of the higher educational institutions of Crimea in XIX - the beginning of the XX century, and the problems of organization and pedagogics have been researched, the stages of development of the higher educational institutions within the period of investigation have been defined. The scientific analysis of the state and confessional educational institutions of Crimea has been made, the content of their practical and research activities has been defined, the specific features of the higher educational institutions have been cleared up, that made it possible to ground their contribution of the foundation of higher edu-cation of Crimea in the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. The role of the higher educational institution in the creation of the national system of higher education has been setup, as well as the training of Crimean youth for the professional activities.
