Slobodyan V. Churches of Kholm eparchy.

The work considers the history of Kholm eparchy, its beginnings and progress, the territorial network of its parishes, the erection of separate churches over the whole time of its existence from the 13th to the 20th centuries. The up-to-present day state of the carried out study is analysed. Comparison of various sources (like archive documents, photographs, maps, iconography), the application of the system and functional approach along with the methods of historical comparison and typology made it possible to locate the sites of some of the parish churches, the history of their creation and ruin, their artistic values. Making use of the piled up materials, a catalogue of 602 churches that existed on the territory of Kholm eparchy at different times, also the maps of the existent and non-existent churches were composed.
