Essay

The thesis is devoted to the working out and approbation of methods of increasing the speed and power level of training qualified rugby players. As a result of research and studies of parameters of competitive activities in modern rugby there were determined indices of playing activities of rugby players, modern model characteristics of qualified rugby players which are of great importance for qualitative selection of the team line-up and full of value planning of its study and training process. The developed experimental programme consisted of the change in traditional structure and content of physical training of rugby players in preparatory period by applying the methods based on primary development of speed and power abilities of athletes. Main peculiarities of the present method are complex approach to conducting physical exercises of strength, power and speed direction as well as distribution of training loads with due regard for playing specialization of rugby players. Such an approach optimizesthe process of conducting speed and power training of rugby players as much as possible which was confirmed by the results of introduction of the developed methods indicative of speed and power improvement of training athletes of experimental group and effectiveness of their study and training process as a whole.
