Krylova- G. Psycholinguistic Peculiarities of Translating Semantic Units of Foreign Texts.

The dissertation is devoted to studying the problem of psycholinguistic peculiarities of semantic units of foreign texts. Different scientific approaches to the problem of translation and to the problem of language and thinking relations are covered in this research. The main semantic units and their functions in the text are determined. The dependence of the text style on the functions of semantic units, which are used, is considered in the work. Special attention is given to the characteristics of semantic units and the main rules that influence the equal translation of the texts. According to our research, the main semantic units are words, concepts and symbols. We consider the word as the denomination of an object, the concept as the system of inferences, the symbol as the unlimited number of word's meaning. It was proposed to consider a word, a concept and a symbol as the main psycholinguistic units of text analysis. It has been proved the possibility to indicate the text style through its semantic units. A new approach to the theory of translation has been developed. This approach is based on the determination the psycholinguistic peculiarities of semantic units in the text. The main idea of psycholinguistic approach is in the following - first we should translate the senses of the text taking into consideration the linguistic peculiarities of each language. It has been firstly determined the concept "translation" from the psycholinguistic point of view. The typical reasons of mistakes in translation are determined. It has been determined four factors of difficulties of translation of concepts, which influence on the equal translation of the text. The author developed the psychological criteria of equal translation. The special scale of equal translation has been developed in order to indicate the equal translation from the psycholinguistic point of view. The author also developed: the diagram of correspondence of the content of deep semantic structure of the original and the translated texts; the diagram of semantic field.
