Shkribitko О. Household activity of monasteries of the Steppe Ukraine in XVIth-XVIIIth centuries

The dissertation is a historical research of household activity of monasteries of the Steppe Ukraine in XVIth-XVIIIth centuries. On the basis of proper sources and literature the author analyzes social – economic and political preconditions of foundation of Svaytogorskiy, Samarskiy, Nekhvoroshanskiy, Grigorievskiy Bisuykov mens’ monasteries, basic stages of formation of their economic and historical-architectural complexes, regional features of development of economy of these monasteries (industry, cattle-breeding, agriculture and trade) and factors influenced on the state of monasteries. It is analyzed the role of monks in consolidation of orthodoxy in the region, in defence of south frontiers of Moscow state, in charity and spreading of public education among local inhabitants. The author pays our attention on relations between ecclesiastical and temporal powers on different stages of developing of the Steppe Ukraine.
