The thesis is dedicate to the complex investigation of the connection between the sources and the artistic discourse of the controversial as to the Polish-Ukrainian relations historical novel of a famous Polish writer G.Senkevih "By the Fire and Sword". In opus analysis the traditional for the native literary criticism historical-philological approach is united with the principles of the contemporary theory of intertextuality and topic.
