Synyavska L. The impact of russification policy on the economical, social and cultural life in Ukraine in the second half of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century

The object of study – the russification processes in Ukraine in the second half of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century. The purpose of study – the certain aspects of russification policy concerning the ukrainian people in the second half of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century, and also struggle against russification, which occured at this time, to study complexly. The methods used in the research are: interrelation general, especial and specific, concrete analysis of the given phenomenon in the certain conditions, principle of adequate interpretation of the texts of sources. The practical value of work consists in use of the dissertation for the further study of a problem, by preparation of scientific and popular scientific works on a history of Ukraine, ukrainian culture, and also at teaching normative and special courses. The dissertation is devoted to the study of multifold impact of russification policy on the economical, social and cultural life in Ukraine in the second half of theXIX and the beginning of the XX century. The comprehensive analysis of the wide circle of archive materials, scientific publications enables to make the attempt of complex defining the tendencies and methods in russification as a policy of Russian absolutism, its different aspects in the economical, social and cultural spheres of the life of Ukraine in the second half of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century. The conclusion is made that this policy was the purposeful state policy of Russia towards Naddnieper Ukraine. It comprised the intentions of diminishing the economical and political influence of Ukrainians in Russian empire, the submission of ukrainian economy to russian interests, ignoring the national possessions of Ukrainians in social and cultural spheres, as well as consolidation of Ukrainian language and culture. The policy of russification comprised the whole complex of measures directed towards the transformation of Ukraine into russian province.
