Kaz'myrchuk M. Kazmirchuk M. G. The social activity of underrussian Ukrainian pawnshops (1886 - 1917)

The thesis for a candidate's degree of historical sciences, specialty 07.00.01 - History of Ukraine. - Taras Shevchenco Kyiv National University. - K., 2006. The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of social activity of pawnshops of Ukraine in structure of Russian Empire at the 1886 - 1917. Based on deep analysis of the historical sources this scientific work researches the problem dealing with the components of social directions of pawnshops according to native inhabitance which was connected with their growing role in social - economy sphere of Ukrainian town. The author considers historical preconditions of the creation and development of pawnshops in the World and Ukraine from XV-th century to the beginning of XX-th century. The main problem of pawnshops at legal - normative regulation and its influence on their progress in Ukrainian provinces (gubernies) during 1886-1917 are shown. The work considers pawnshops directions to the material provision for employees and relations with clientele. The complements of clientele and its influence on social functions of pawnshops institutions are analyzed. The attention is paid to the fact that the middle and the height stratum were represented in pawnshops during the mentioned period. The characteristic feature of the pawnshops of Ukrainian town in 1886 - 1917 was their philanthropic actions.
