The research is devoted to the socio - philosophic aspect of the epistemic analysis of knowledge as content of consciousness. Activity of higher psychological functions of animals and human beings are characterized, besides social and historical peculiarities of human consciousness development are revealed. Much attention is paid to the analysis of the purposive consciousness activity in the system of the subject - object relations.
