The dissertation focuses on the complex analysis native and foreign works which deals with the problem of training character; analysed the preconditions of training character in Halychyna (1919 – 1939); lighted up ethnopedagogical and ethnopsychological basis of training character in the inheritance of Ukrainian pedagogues in between-war period; determinate the opportunities of using historical experience in modern conditions. Materials, the main thesis of the dissertation and conclusions may be used in course of History of Education theory; in educational process at schools and kindergartens.
