In the dissertational research the retrospective study of the development of aesthetic upbringing in secondary educational establishments of the Southern Ukraine in the second half of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century is accomplished. The peculiarities and conceptual bases of the content and form of aesthetic subjects teaching in the framework of secondary education are studied. The research highlights the possibilities of creative usage of positive historical-pedagogical experience in aesthetic upbringing in the practice of modern secondary and higher education.
