Polovynchak Y. Newspaper "Kievlyanin" in struggle against Ukrainian's at the end of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth century

The research is based on historical documents and publishings of newspaper "Kievlyanin". It explains the process of "Kievlyanin"'s struggle against Ukrainian political movement. The activity of "Kievlyanin" is considered in the context of its relations with Ukrainian national movement. The role and place of newspaper "Kievlyanin" in the propaganda of official ideology of Russian empire is shown with factual material. Reactionary essence of the tsarist policy towards Ukrainian movement has been shown. The author investigated the specificity of creation of Ukrainian theatre, education, periodicals, science on the basis of materials of press. The development of Ukrainian state-building's idea - from cultural - throw educational activity - to the requirements of independence of the state are analysed.
