The object of research is a the Ratne starostvo in the 16th -17th centuries. The aim of research: to realize complex research of social and economic development of the Ratne starostvo in the 16th -17th centuries. The subjec of research: basic tendencies of social and economic development of the Ratne starostvo. The methods of research: analysis, synthesis, problem-chronological, historico-comparative, statistic, mathematical. The results of research and novelty: the main directions and trends of the social and economic development of the only starostvo rural unit, the city of Ratne, were analyzed. The structure of the starostvo rural surrounding, economic conditions of different social categories of rural population, forms of the rent payments, their evolution and rural population's liabilities have been characterized. The peculiarities of the rural households running and managing have been described. The conditions, origin time and the expansion extent of the land manor households have been researched. The sphere of usage: subsequent development of subject of research, writing of summarizing labours, train aids, during reading of courses of history of Ukraine, economic history of Ukraine.
