Essay

Subject: breeding of pea varieties resistant to the pathogens of fusariose and ascochytose. Aim: to develop the original material for the selection of high-yielding pea cultivars with a high degree of resistance to the pathogens of fusariose and ascochytose. Methods: field, immunological, hybridological, measuring weight, statistical. Novelty: there is determined species' composition and harmfulness of the local races of fusariose and ascochytose of peas; there are revealed their variation's peculiarities; there are developed the principles and methods for evaluation and the creation of the pea original material with resistance to diseases' agents; there is created a new original material. Results: there is identified the original material of peas for disease resistance selection; there is formed a pea collection according to fusariose and ascochytose resistance, which enhances breeding effectiveness of the crop as to the trait of resistance. Application stage: there are created 10 new pea lines whichhave been included into the National Gene Bank of Ukraine and are being used under the selection of the cultivars with a high resistance to fusariose and ascochytose and pea cultivar Kharbel which has been tested in RF since 2006. Application area: breeding institutions, AIC of Ukraine.
