Essay

The thesis deals with the investigation of the institutional principles, social environment and main directions of the Volyn Dominican monasteries activity during the end of XVI and at the beginning of XIX centuries. The main periods of the order spreading in the region have been determined, the peculiarity of the Dominican monasteries contacts with the surroundings, the features of the intercommunication of the Volyn convents with the order provinces, the specifics of the personal staff of the monasteries have been analyzed. Such directions of the Volyn Dominican monasteries have been investigated: they are spiritual and intellectual life, pastoral and missionary work, charity and cultural activity.
