Kunanets' N. Scientific Libraries of Lviv: creation, scquisition, formation of funds and collecction from the end of the 18 th ctnturu to the 30-ies the 20 th century.

The author has researched the history of development of Scientific Libraries of Lviv from the end of the 18 th century to the 30-ies the 20 th century, which functioned in scientific establiisments, higher scools and societies. Reconstructed their creation and development, indicated and explained three mail periods of their history, gave the evolution of their development of scientific libraries classified them: determined the presence of special and universal scientific libraries. Described the sources of acquisition and topical priorities of the formation of funds and analysed the colections. On the basis of studies of archival and printed sources the influence of the establishments formed by the libraries on the development of their funds. The conclusion is made that scientific libraries hat created special infrastructure in Lviv and favorable information space for development of various branches of science.
