In this thesis the processes of formation and activity of "Prosvita" rural cultural-educational associations have been investigated with the premises of this formation, their role in the national-cultural rebirth of Ukraine,..The influence of rural "Prosvita" associations upon national consciousness, peoples participation in state, political, cultural and educational processes are determined in the dissertation. Besides, "Prosvita" staff potential, main problems, achievements and the process associations by the Soviet regime have been described.
