Essay

Subject: gene pool of potato for its suitability of growing from seeds. Aim: to determine the value of the potato gene pool components for the suitability of generative multiplication and being based on it to develop valuable forms for selection. Methods: field, laboratory, statistical. Novelty: there is stated the reaction norm in varieties, interspecies hybrids, dihaploids of potato as to generative organs' development depending on the environmental conditions; there is determined the availability of the gene pool's components and separate forms for generative multiplication. Results: there are identified some varieties, interspecies hybrids with good flowering and berry-formation for practical breeding; it is proved that for obtaining the young plants of the 1st year with a less manifestation of the virus diseases it is expedient to apply a direct plantting of seeds in soil in comparison with seedlings' planting. Application stage: by the complex of traits there are identified the potato forms suitable for growing from botanical seeds: 85.511с12, 86.748с22, 90.662/15, 91.380с3 and 90.35с448, there has been developed a variety-population Prestige F1, with was sent to the State Variety Test. Application area: breeding institutions, AIC of Ukraine.
