Essay

The thesis examines trade and economic activity of the Greek merchants in Ukraine (the second half of XVII-XIX). The historical conditions and factors that affected development of the Greek trade activity are determined; its political and legal provision by the Hetman’s state and Russian Empire is characterized. The character, trends and results of the Greek of Nizhin trade activity are disclosed. The trade factor influence on the self-organization and autonomization processes as well as the structuring of the merchant bulk within the limits of Nizhin Greek community are shown.
