The thesis is dedicated to complex research of the life, socio-political, cultural and academic activity of V.P. Zatonskyi. The factors that played a vital role in his formation as Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic statesman, representative of the Ukrainian (Bolshevik) Communist party nomenclature, active participant of soviet power establishment have been determined. Various aspects of V. Zatonskyi’s activity have been characterized. People’s Commissar of Education contribution into cultural and educational system creation, his influence upon “Ukrainization” and his part in repressions have been scrutinized. Circumstances of his investigation case conducted by PCIA have been determined.
