Ostrovskiy D. Axiological aspect of historicisms as problem of Translation studies (on the material of Ukrainian, Russian and German small format texts).

The thesis represents an all-round analysis of translation strategies applied in the historical texts of cross-cultural communication at lexical level presented by historicism. Difficulty in understanding meanings of historical vocabulary consists in its synchronic and diachronic remoteness. With the aim of identification of: a) historicism obligatory / optional for translation; b) choice of the way of their translation, the following classification of historicisms from the point of view of structure of communicative axiological space of cross-cultural communication according to the following criteria: a) semantic; b) functional; c) structural. The most frequent way of rendering historical realias is lexical transformation - loan translation, which helps to keep "other" connotation. Translation of historical symbols requires selection of suitable connotations which is attained through lexico-semantic transformations - extension of meaning. Connotations of historical linguoconcepts are rendered at the seme level through structural transformations.
