The object Russian lexical group "functional space". The aim is the functional-semantic description Russian lexical group "functional space" as the constituents of lexical-semantic system of Russian. The methods are sampling, oppositions, component analysis; identification, contextual; comparative, description. The concept of space in scientific and language picture of the world is determined. The words and the word-combinations incorporated by integrated sema "functional space" are allocated from different explanatory vocabularies of Russian language. The set of semas which form semantic space of dictionary fragment is determined and hierarchy of semas is constructed. Identification of sememas with application of results of the componential analysis is lead and a nucleus and periphery of lexical group is allocated. Features of functioning of lexical group in individual speech are revealed. Application spheres are the training courses and lexicographic practice.
