Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of expression of speech aggression in Ukrainian mass-media political discourse. The wide notion of invective is specified, the notion of invective tactics is formulated. The analysis of modern Russian language newspaper communication of Ukraine allows to determine the list of techniques, which are used to execute invective tactics, to clarify their functions and speech markers. Lexical, phraseological, syntactical means of realization of invective intension are analyzed. Semantic peculiarities, which cause invective use of stylistically marked vocabulary, metaphors, neologisms, phraseological units and expressive syntactic constructions, are defined. The results of study prove the existence of advanced system of invective means, illustrate their wide use in Ukrainian mass-media political discourse. Tendency to avoid the most offensive units and use ambiguous means to express negative estimation and negative emotions are substantiated.
