Kostyuk V. Public, political and scientific activity of Myhaylo Pavlyk (1874 - 1915).

The thesis is devoted to the synthetic investigation of the public, political and scietific activity of Myhaylo Pavlyk. The historiсal role of the scientist as a public and political figure in the late term XIX - early XX centuries is disclosed, well-known data of the scholar's biography are summarized and supplemented. In the thesis the process of Myhaylo Pavlyk's formation as a scholar is investigated, the impact of M.Dragomanov, S.Podolynsky, F.Vovk, I.Franko on his scientific views are defined.In the research work the historical and cultural conceptions of the state formation are theoretically grounded. Myhaylo Pavlyk was the follower and the representative of those conceptions. His main approaches are theoretically grounded to the learning of the ukrainian national question.In the thesis the most significant aspects of the scholar's scientific heritage are disclosed. In the research work M.Pavlyk's historical, ethnographical and published works are investigated. An attempt is made to give a deep and objective evaluation of the scholar's output in the development of the national revival of Ukraine.
