Hlystiuk Y. The General Greek-Catholic Priest Seminary in Lviv 1848-1914: the Institutional and the Social History.

The dissertation presents a complex research of the General Greek-Catholic Priest Seminary in Lviv and its activity in 1848-1914. The Seminary was the main theological educational institution of Greek-Catholic clergy in Galicia. Spiritual formation of the clergy in the Seminary was combined with mandatory education at the theology department of Lviv university. The most capable seminarians continued their studies in Vienna, Innsbruck and Rome. The number of superiors and seminarians from lower social groups (peasants) had grown up dramatically by the turn of ХІХ century. During this period there crystallized a system of student societies with various aims and various forms of activities. They impacted both: seminarians intellectual formation and the development of the institution.
