Essay

The peculiar feature of the thesis is the systematic treatment of these transformations within the limits of complex units of the word-forming subsystem which comprises word-forming nests, zones and chains. The dynamic character of the morphonological phenomena is revealed on the synchronic level. Singling out the morphonological models of word-formation enabled the author to establish the interdependence of morphonological transformations at different stages of word-formation. Word-forming models described in the thesis allow classifying the word-forming nests according to the type of morphonological transformation. It has also been proved that the intensity of transformations is revealed to the full extent at the first stage of word-formation and weakens at the following stages of derivation. The morphonological behaviour of" a number of morphemes taking part in the suffixational and prefixational word-format ion has been described and the morphonoiogical peculiarities of verbal derivatives have beensystematized.
