Essay

The thesis is a complex study of the development of the ferrous metallurgy of Donbass in 1950-1980s. The thesis deals with the main aspects of the branch functioning during the studied period. The role of the region’s metallurgical plants in industrial introduction of modern technologies and new manufacturing methods is traced. Changes in the branch’ engineering staff are analyzed, the quality of the metallurgists’ life as well as industrial activities of the employees of the branch in 1950-1980s are studied. The thesis shows the influence on the iron and steel industry, introduction, and consequences for metallurgy of the reforms of 1957, 2nd half of 1960s, the “reconstruction” policy.
