Essay

The dissertation studies the processes of establishment and development of the higher education in Donbas in XX century. It traces dynamics of the number of universities (higher educational establishments), the teaching staff employed and students enrolled; it defines basic trends of scholar researches and their impact on students’ qualification. It resulted that the most part of graduates majored in industry, education, economics, transport, agriculture and medical care. The dissertation proves the fact that higher education in the region is closely connected with its economy development and universities play crucial role in Ukraine’s system of education.
