The object of investigation - the process of scientific potential formation and regional scientific potential usage; aim - the scientific substantiation of the theoretical-methodological foundations and discovery of peculiarity of the scientific potential formation and usage; methods - dialectical, indexical, grouping, typological, statistical, mapping; novelty - the meaning of "scientific potential" is exposed, the functional-component and functional-territorial structure of regional scientific potential is proved and the influence of the factors of scientific potential formation and usage is estimated; result - the theoretical aspects has been researched and the methodical foundations of the scientific potential of Ukraine has been suggested, the sustematical-structurel analis was made and the base trend of improvement of territorial organization of Ukrainian scientific was proved; branch - geographical sciences.
