Essay

The thesis makes an effort to comprehend the journalistic works as a part of journalistic science. It is argued that scientific journalism should be understood as a genre group of journalistic works. The thesis explores interrelationships between journalistic and literary works of Umberto Eco. Specific features of U. Eco's postmodernist method of composition have been defined. Characterized also is the concept of man and world bearing the three fundamentals: a system of views at Medieval man and world which is used to discuss a contemporary man in a historic perspective, man's corporality which offers a philosophical comprehension of man, and reader's role as the basic social role of an information society man. The thesis also explores spiritual and cultural influence of U. Eco's works at an information sphere of Ukraine.
