Burych L. Modern Ukrainian Column Writing: Typological and Formal and Content Model

The thesis systematizes methodological approaches to the research of the column writing phenomenon, characterizes the criteria of author’s column identification in the printed and online publications, reflects on the role of columnist in the construction of the author’s picture of the world, interpretes the notion of a «column», «author’s column», «column writing» and «columnist», studies existing column typologies in the Ukrainian and foreign works and on the basis of 20 media resources presents typological paradigm of modern Ukrainian column writing. It is identified that column writing in the media under analysis is characterized by the following attributes: different way of functioning (newspaper, magazine, TV, radio and social media column writing), different delivery format (text column writing, audio column writing, video column writing, multiformat / creolized column writing), several languages of delivery (mainly Ukrainian, often Russian and rarely English), flexible size (medium column size prevails), arbitrary and well-organized structure, style syncretism (combined styles dominates, but with obvious prevalence of opinion features), genre diffusion (presence of elements of different genres), thematic diversity and niche direction, personal and collective authorship, original and republished version, visualized and multimedia content (apart from the author’s photo, there are various photos, infographics, document screenshots, video, etc.).
