Madey A. Historical and Cultural Content of the Information-Analytical weekly newspaper «Dzerkalo Tyzhnya. Ukraina» (2004–2019).

The paper describes the key concepts of cultural journalism; the modern tendencies of how the Ukrainian periodicals cover historical and cultural problems are analyzed; the researcher discovered the systemic problems and reasons why the cultural-historical topics are covered by a leftover principle: it is out-of-date editorial policy and unqualified journalists who write materials on cultural subjects; the author performed genre and thematic analysis of the historical and cultural content of the «Dzerkalo Tyzhnya. Ukraina» [«Mirror of the Week. Ukraine»] weekly newspaper; the subject matter of the historical and cultural content of the «Dzerkalo Tyzhnya. Ukraina» was systematized by criteria: events, facts, personalities, authors; it was established that the genre dominant of the historical and cultural content of the analyzed weekly newspaper in terms of quality indicators is the genre of interviews as a tool of the comprehensive disclosure of the respondent’s image; the researcher highlighted the peculiarities of the transformation of historical and cultural concepts and its realization in mythologems on the pages of «Dzerkalo Tyzhnya. Ukraina»; the author pinpointed the main approaches in implementing the mission of historical and cultural content of «Dzerkalo Tyzhnya. Ukraina» as a formative factor of the national identity of Ukrainians.
