Essay

The present thesis deals with language etiquette of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia. The paper focuses on sociolinguistic study of etiquette in mono- and bilingual (multilingual) communities, its functioning and main types. Much attention is paid to its use in communication, which depends on social distance between people, their social status, rank and peculiarities of their national culture. Language etiquette research of the Hungarians uncovered three main stages of person's socialization.
