Essay

The analysis of morphologically abnormal Scots pine needles from ChNPP zone was conducted and it was shown that the needle shortening occurs due to the decreasing of cell number; the increasing of meristematic cell amount with mitotic damages was observed in short needle; high level of polymorphism was revealed using RAPD- and ISSR-markers in both control and abnormal needles. The analysis of gene expression with microarray method showed the changes of gene activity that take part in different cell processes and regulatory protein genes including genes of transcriptional factors. Significant increasing of transcriptional activity of genes encoding ubiquitin conjugating enzyme and ascorbate peroxidase was observed.
