Essay

The thesis studies everyday life of inhabitants of Nazi-occupied Kyiv. Work is grounded on wide source base and investigates the structure of daily needs, i.e. food, clothes, habitation, health protection and analyses citizens' needs in social and cultural fields. Also the role of local authorities like city council in solving of citizen daily problems was determined. It was made clear that Kyivites were left alone with the necessity to solve the whole spectrum of their urgent problems, thus Kyiv citizens used to escape from difficult situations by themselves, without the support of city council. Occupants' policy in field of usage of local human resources was mainly directed to serve the needs of Germans. Also the activities of trade establishment and catering, medical and cultural institutions in the framework of satisfaction of the citizens' daily needs are traced in this work.
