Essay

History of formation, development and decline of the most influential society in Bukovyna "Ruska Besida" has been investigated in current dissertation. This society carried out cultural and educational activities for more than 70 years. Using numerous historical sources and documents the author made a complex analysis of different directions of its activity both in educational and cultural spheres. Based on material classification the influence of the "Ruska Besida" Society at national movement of Bukovyna Ukrainians and society's role in setting collaboration with local Austrian authorities was analyzed. Besides, the author also traced the development of relations with Galicia Ukrainians as well as Ukrainians living on the banks of the Dnipro River.
