Social mythology. To analyze the specification and functions of social mythology as a phenomenon that has different reflections in the being of transforming society. The methods of investigation are phenomenological, dialectical, method of idealization, induction, deduction, analysis, synthesis, generalization, demythologization. The role, functions, structure and main types of social myth in the context of social transformations have been analyzed. The improved definition of the notion "social myth" has been given. The mechanisms of creating and destroying of social myths and mythological aspects of globalization, democracy and postmodern have been determined. A sphere of application is a state policy and education.
