Leskiv M. The soviet regime in the western regions of Ukraine (1944-1953).

The thesis higllights the Soviet regime in the western regions of Ukraine (1944-1953 )and particularly the restoring of political, economic and social structures that were the foundations of the current USSR public order. The process which briefly can be defined by the term "sovietization" touched all the spheres of life of the west - ukrainian society. The forcible collectivization occured in the villages. General control spread to the whole manifestations of the spiritual life that was accompanied with the cruel ideology. The Byzantine - rite Catholic Church of Ukraine that uphed the idea of national statehood was destroyed. The national liberation movement and the opposition of the local population to the existing policy regime were illustrated.
