Object – phenomenon of music. Objective – the analysis and revealing of specific features of music, which make a spiritual-cultural basis of society. Methods – structurally functional, dialectic, comparativic. Results: systematized apprehension of music as a component of a spiritual-cultural nucleus of society is offered for the first time; the methodology of socially philosophical knowledge of musical culture is profound. Novelty: the content of the concept «melos» as socially significant musical sense which is demanded by certain society or community is determined; factors of formation of musical culture are revealed; representations about structure of musical culture and melos as musical logos are expanded; specificity of social being of music under postmodern epoch is revealed. Sphere of use – reading lecture courses on philosophy, social philosophy, aesthetics, art criticism and musicology, state policy in humanitarian sphere.
