Essay

The place and the role of the peasantry, as the basis of the nation in the struggle for power of P. Skoropadskyi's Hetmanate, Directoria and the Bilshovyk government of the Ukrainian Independent Soviet Republic are investigated compositely in this thesis. The causes of the defeat of the Central Soviet and the pre-conditions of Hetman upheaval are revealed. The directions, the character and the content of Hetman ate agrarian policy are interpreted in this work. The analysis of the causes and the consequences of peasants' struggle for the land against German-Austrian occupation and Hetman state, their actions against Directoria agrarian policy is made. The substance, the forms and the methods of the Bilshovyk struggle for the taking their side by the wide strata of the Ukrainian peasantry, the use of the policy of the! «military communism», voluntary course of the Soviet government towards the socialization of the farming in the radhosps, communs and other collective associations, which were made by thecruel violent methods, are interpreted. The mass insurgent anti-bilshovyk movement of the peasantry, which postponed the formation of the Soviet regime in Ukraine, is analysed.
