. The dissertation gave a theoretical synopsis and offered a new solution of the vital problem of social training of elementary school age children in Sunday school; it substantiated the theory of Sunday school as a socio-cultural environment, developed a model of social and educational activity in the context of Sunday school that leads to children's social upbringing; the dissertation revealed socio-pedagogical conditions and mechanisms of the influence that the Sunday school environment has on elementary age children, it also offered a variety of programs and teaching methodologies to support the process of children's social training in Sunday school.
